[edit] History of Samundri
The present site of Samundri city was Chak No. 533.G.B in 1887. Later on it was named Samundri because of three Hindu manders in that area. The word 'seh' means three (Persian word) and mandri is derived from mander(temple of Hindus).in 1887 there were only three hindu shrines in this area but now what remains of them houses the Government Primary School No 4. Up to 1904 it was a Tehsil in District Jhang. With the creation of Lyallpur District the Samudri Tehsil was transferred to this District. Total area of the Tehsil was 4,99,462 Acres which was reduced to 2,22,005 Acres as a result of its bifurcation in 1994. The lands of the Tehsil Samundri are irrigated by Gogera branch canal and Burala branch canal. All villages of the Tehsil carry G.B. with their Chak numbers. Sugar cane is the major cash crop of the area. Wheat, Cotton and vegetables are also grown in the fertile lands of the Tehsil. Samundri is situated at a distance of 45 K.M. from Faisalabad. The only means of communication is by road. Katchery bazaar, Mandi bazaar, Nehar bazaar, Qasim bazaar, Kashmiri Baza, Sunny Plaza and Chaki bazaar are the important commercial areas in the town. In last few years AnarKali bazar has become a most famous and commercial bazar of this city. There is a great hustle and bustle in the bazar all long year. Peoples come for there shopping from far areas. Soloni Jhal, Khidirwala and Muridwala are the famous road side bus stops. Now a Clock Tower is being built in center of city.
