Samuel Waugh

Samuel Waugh (1814-1885) was a 19th century painter.
Born in Mercer, Pennsylvania, he became one of the most famous portrait painters of Philadelphia. He was also known for his Italian panoramas, most of which he created during an eight year stay in Italy.
His son Frederick Judd Waugh (1861-1940), born in New Jersey, is best remembered as a marine painter.
