Samuel Oboh

Samuel Oghale Oboh (b. March 27, 1971, Lagos, Nigeria) is a Canadian architect and the 2007-2008 President of the Alberta Chapter of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada[1]. He is a registered architect licensed in the state of Texas (USA)[2], in the province of Alberta (Canada), and in South Africa.

Oboh completed his training and education at the Department of Architecture of Bendel State University (now Ambrose Alli University) with a second class honours upper division class in 1992 - A feat that earned him the University's best graduating architecture student award in 1992. He continued at the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria where he obtained his Masters degree in Architecture in 1996. After his graduate studies in architecture, Oboh worked on numerous prestigeous architectural projects in North America and Southern Africa.

Some projects that Oboh worked in the recent past, include the Botswana Police College project, South East Division Police Station in Edmonton, Caritas Continuing Care Centre in Edmonton, Federal Palace Hotel (Victoria Island), the International Law Enforcement Academy (Gaborone) and a host of other projects.

Oboh developed a love for architecture, sustainable design, and the environment early in his life. Oboh is a LEEDTM Accredited Professional (accredited by the United States Green Building Council). He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, the Cape Institute for Architecture (Cape Town, South Africa), the South African Institute for Architecture, the Alberta Association of Architects, and the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Oboh was also a chartered member of the UK based Royal Institute of British Architects from 2000-2007.

Oboh and his family relocated to Alberta, Canada from Botswana[3] in December 2003. In 2006, Oboh was one of the 150 Alberta participants selected to represent the province at the 2006 Smithsonian Folklife Festival in Washington DC. [4] Oboh is an associate[5] with Kasian Architecture, one of the largest architectural firms in Canada and a top 100 firm in the world.[6] [7] He is married to Aisha Oboh and has three children (Toluwalashe, Fego and Oreva)[8]
