Samuel H. Kim

Samuel H. Kim (Full Name: Samuel Hyung-Ihl Kim) (Korean: 김형일)(born Dec 15, 1976 in Seoul, South Korea) is a Canadian Korean hockey commentator who has covered ice hockey since joining SBSsports(cable) in 2006 becoming one of the most respected in his field.
Sam provides analysis for NHL on SBSsports telecasts, as well as for local hockey events(ANYANG HALLA Hockey Club radio commentator), Previous to joining SBSsports, Sam was Hockey reporter of The Coreamedia(Vancouver)for a year and a hockey columnist for The Sportsseoul & Mydaily News for past 7 years. He still works as a reporter for the both media.
Sam was born in Seoul, but moved to New York when he was 1. Sam spent this childhood in New York(1978~1982) and moved back to Seoul. After 9 yrs of life in Korea, his family decided to immigrate to Canada, where he first arrived in London, ONT in Oct 9th, 1991. He became a hockey fan ever since then and started to fall in love with it. Sam's uncle also lives in London and still resides there now.
Sam move to Vancouver, B.C Canada in 1992 and wend to high school and college, and had his first professional job as a Import/export coordinator for the large shipping co., Ltd. He started his reporter career at Coreamedia Ltd., and moved back to Korea in summer of 2003.
He was hired as a scout/interpreter for the ANYANG HALLA Hockey Club in May, 2008. Kim is in charged with North American players scout. Sam's first project was C/LW Brock Radunske, Edmonton Oilers' 3rd round pick of 2002 entry draft. Sam's second project was Defenceman Brad Fast, a former teammate of Brock Radunske at Michigan State University. Fast was selected by Carolina Hurricanes 3rd round(84 overall) in 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
Sam will be also responsible for the media side of hockey operation.
