Samuel Bassey

Samuel Udo Bassey is a Nigerian trade unionist who was a member of the Federal House of Representatives, representing the Eket district during the Nigerian First Republic. He was at one time the secretary of the All Nigeria Trade Federation, succeeding Gogo Chu Nzeribe and the Nigerian Trade Union Congress. Prior to that, he was secretary of the Municipal and Local Authorities Workers Union. In 1964, he was affiliated with the Socialist Workers and Farmers Party of Nigeria.

During the Olusegun Obasanjo administration in the 1970s, he was barred from trade unionism along with Michael Imoudu, Wahab Goodluck and a few others.
