Sampige

Sampige is a village in Kadaba hobali (Tumkur district - Karnataka - India). Sampige village has a beautiful Srinivasa Swamy Temple which is renowned as "Sampige Srinivasa". Every Year there is a Car festival where thousands of people get together and celebrate. As ouy77r hierarchy goes one of our great grand father was the Shanbog of the village. We continue to go to Sampige every year during the Car festival to celebrate and gets gods blessings on our family. There are lot of kannada films which are picturized in this location for the temple premises.

Sampige is also the Kannada name of a tree. Sampige or Champak trees are tall, have a dense foliage,and bear highly aromatic yellow or orange flowers. They belong to the family of Magnoliaceae, and the Latin name is Michelia Champaca. They flower mainly from March to June. The village Sampige has borrowed it's name from this tree, Sampige meaning Land of Champak Flowers, Champakapuri in ancient times.
