Samora Yunis is a General in the Ethiopian National Defence Forces. He currently serves as the Chief of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and was promoted to the rank of General in September 2007. He was previously a Lieutenant General.
Samora Yunis was born in the Tigray Region of northern Ethiopia. He was a freedom fighter under the EPRDF coalition forces which toppled Mengistu Haile Mariam in 1991.
