Samo Tomášik (February 8, 1813 - September 10, 1887) is a Slovak romantic poet. He is known as the author of the poem, Hej, Slováci, written in 1834, which later in the period of 1939 - 1945 became a national anthem of Slovakia and since 1944 - as Hej, Sloveni - a national anthem of Yugoslavia later of Serbia and Montenegro until 2006.
