From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Samfälligheten för Nordisk Sed is a religious organisation for folktro in Sweden. The regional units where known as Gäll until 2007 when the organisation was re-structured. The Samfälligheten was formed in the early 1990s, originally consisting of five member groups. In 1999, the "Samfälligheten" initiated a process of creating an organisation to account for changes in Swedish legislation with regard to the recognition of religious groups. In the course of this, the Torsåker Gäll was split off the Samfälligheten and was later dissolved. In 2000 Samfälligheten was as one of the first religious organistations registered as a "registrerat trossamfund" due to the new Swedish laws.
Together with Norway's Foreningen Forn Sed, the Samfälligheten confess to a traditionalist nordic religion opposed to Germanic neopaganism. They call the religion "Nordisk Sed" witch is identicle with regional folklore (Folketro). They do not associate themeseves with asatru or reconstructionists and there emphasis of medieval sources such as the Edda.
In 2007 the "gäll" units where disposed of since it where of no use. Today the organisation is active over the entire contry.
