Samantha 'Sam' Fitzgerald (née Grieves)[2]) is a fictional recurring character on the Australian soap opera Neighbours. She made her on screen debut on March 21, 2008, and will be on screen until late August 2008. She is portrayed by Simone Buchanan.

[edit] Dan's wife
When Daniel Fitzgerald returned to Ramsay Street in late 2007, little was known about his past. As time went on, he started to develop feelings for Libby Kennedy. The pair decided to start a relationship, but Dan had to clear his conscious about Sam, and Libby decided not to act on her feelings. After much convincing from Toadie Rebecchi Libby decided to ask Dan out. But before she could, a taxi arrived, carrying Dan's wife Sam. She has recently agreed to a divorce from Dan, but is still in love with him. She is also trying to become friends with Libby, which has started off well. She also moved in with Dan and Toadie at No.32.

Little is know about Sam's past. Although we do know she and Dan met when they were at uni, they instantly clicked and married. However, it turned out that she suffered from Bi-polar disorder, which was triggered by a miscarriage at six months. Dan became more her carer than her husband. Eventually she ordered him to leave her. She and Rosetta Cammeniti know each other from studying law at uni.

Sam's first storyline will obviously be centred around the love triangle between herself, Libby and Dan. Her and Dan were going to file for divorce but changed their minds because they wanted to give their marriage another chance, seeing as they missed out on so much of their marriage life because of Sam's bipolar disorder.
Sam wants to try with Dan for another baby, so shes gone off her Bi-Polar medication.

In March 2008 Daniel Fitzgerald and Libby Kennedy fell for each other. After a few weeks Dan admits to Libby that he has a wife but left her. Libby tries to avoid Dan but just can't. When they bump into each other he says he will call her and have a divorce. But on 21st March Libby decided to give Dan another chance but Sam came to Ramasy Street to fix things with Dan. After that Dan told her that he wanted a Divorce because he wanted to be with Libby.

When Dan said he wanted a divorce Sam was really upset she tried to win him back but Dan would still choose Libby. So Samantha decided to be useful and help Rosie and Toadie with there Lawyer business. But one day Libby came to work things out with Sam. Keeping it cool they both tried to work things out. After a few weeks Dan decided to choose Sam and they started rebooting there relationship. After that Dan and Steph Scully became trapped down a mine. Steve Parker and Ned Parker tried to help and successfully saved them. Dan had hurt his head but Sam looked after him. Libby's Son Ben Kirk looked up to Dan as a hero so he decided to play with Charlie Hoyland reconstructing the Mining accident using a drain. Marco Silvani had parked his car over the drain and Ben became trapped. The whole street went looking for him and Sam found him screaming under the car. He then thought Sam was a hero and became friends with Libby.

When Sam and Dan got back together one day Ben and Libby came to visit Dan and they all played with each. Sam saw them in the window so she went away then Susan Kinski saw her and asked her what's wrong she said nothing and covered up. Ended up they were just playing with Ben.

Sam took a pregnancy test, when looking at the results Libby walked in and said "is this congradulations?" Sam didn't want Libby to know the truth so she confirmed that she was pregnant even though this isn't. Sam has been continually lying to everyone that she is pregnant including her husband Dan. Since Sam has been off her medication she has been sprialling down hill, flirting with other guys. Is this the end of Sam and Dan???
