Coordinates: 29°14′N 77°01′E / 29.23, 77.02 Samalkha is a town and a municipal committee in Panipat district in the Indian state of Haryana. Samalkha is known for its Iron Industries (Toka(fodder cutting machines, Nut-bolts, Saria, Bathroom fitting manufacturing plants etc) and its big Anaj Mandi (Grain Market)and wood market which acts as a common market for all the farmers from nearby villages and trades agricultural produces from western uttar pradesh town Chapproli across river yamuna 8 km away. The Deputy Commissioner(DC) of Panipat district is Mr. Mohinder Kumar.

As of 2001 India census[2], Samalkha had a population of 29,856. Males constitute 55% of the population and females 45%. Samalkha has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 74%, and female literacy is 61%. In Samalkha, 15% of the population is under 6 years of age.
