[edit] Character history
[edit] Sam and Jax
When Jasper Jacks was called to his ailing father's bedside, he learned that his father had heavily relied upon the Dead Man's Hand, and he was missing four of the cards. Jax immediately went on a mission to find the missing cards. This is when he met Sam McCall, who was also in search of the cards. During the ensuing weeks Sam and Jax became close and Sam didn't want Jax to get the cards and leave her.
Jax, scared his dad would die without his 'luck' found that AJ Quartermaine had the last four cards. Sneaky Jax told AJ that he and Sam were dating. In an attempt to make Sam, who was not exactly elegant, more ladylike, he tried to give her a makeover. Ultimately Sam got all five pieces to the Dead Man's Hand, but she would not hold onto them for long.
Jax ended up with the cards. when Sam sabotaged his car they decided to gamble until it was fixed. Jax ended up winning Sam a boat, the Haunted Star, and then they made love for the first time. Unfortunately by the time Jax got to his father, he was too late. Sam was racked with guilt because it was her fault they didn't get the lucky cards to save Jax's father's life. When Jax discovered Sam sabotaged his car, he pushed Sam away. Jax and Sam vowed revenge against each other, but they both actually had strong romantic feelings for each other.
[edit] Sam and Sonny
Sam, who had broken up with Jax, ran into Sonny, who was angry thinking his wife, Carly Corinthos, was cheating on him, ended up sleeping together. Although their relationship started out as purely physical, both Sam and Sonny could not help their growing feelings for each other. And although Sam did make love to Jax during the Port Charles Hotel fire, she was falling in love with Sonny. Sam found out she was pregnant soon after. A paternity test proved Sonny to be the father. She (Sam) initially planned to abort the baby, but Sonny's best friend, Jason Morgan convinced her not to abort or leave town and offered to raise the baby as his own.
Sonny reunited with Carly and his sons, Michael Corinthos and Morgan Corinthos. Sam moved into Jason's penthouse. She and Jason started to have feelings for each other and planned to raise Sonny's child. Sam decided to name the baby Lila, after Jason's grandmother who had just died.
When Sonny's daughter with Alexis Davis, Kristina Corinthos-Davis, was ill and needed a bone marrow transplant, Alexis asked Sam to induce labor a week early for the purpose of harvesting stem cells to save Kristina's life. Sam refused.
Although initially believed by Sonny and Jason to be stress-induced from Alexis' yelling at Sam, it was later determined that the death was because of a pre-existing condition in which the placenta separated from Sam's uterus. While Sam was recovering, Sonny authorized the harvesting of baby Lila's stem cells at the request of Alexis and Kristina's condition turned around. Sam has often been seen blaming Alexis for baby Lila's death, despite the medical conformation that baby Lila's death was unstoppable. Sam feelings were further charged when Alexis chose to save herself while Sam's mentally-handicapped older brother died. Any chance at a rekindling of feelings for Sonny and Sam ended when Sonny gave the final authorization to harvest the stem cells after baby Lila's death while Sam lay unconscious.
Sonny's respect for his daughter's mother has later turned into hatered because she allowed Jason's son to be kidnapped by a woman that was on her show.
[edit] Sam and Jason
As Sam deals with the loss of baby Lila, she becomes closer to Jason. Jason and Sam attend Nikolas Cassadine and Emily Quartermaine's wedding. Sam drinks a little too much and shares a kiss with Jason.
After a bumpy start, Sam and Jason are again living together. Sam and Jason become foster parents of sorts by agreeing to care for a baby that Bridget, one of Courtney Matthews' foundation kids, has given them. Jason isn't so sure at first but then supports Sam and the baby. Jason even proposes to Sam. Sam happily accepts. Bridget decides she wants her baby back. To avoid a serious court battle, Jason decides it would be best for baby Hope to be raised by Bridget and her grandmother. Sam tearfully returns Hope to Bridget, but makes it clear to Jason she'd never forgive him for this.
In March 2006, she learned that she had been adopted and had never been told. During an encephalitis epidemic, the dying Danny McCall told Sam how glad he was that their parents "chose her." DNA tests revealed that Danny could not have been her biological brother. After she and Jason investigated, they found records indicating that Alexis Davis is Sam's biological mother. Sam was dismayed by this news, as she disliked Alexis. Sam has blamed Alexis for the death of baby Lila, whose stem cells were used to save Kristina, the daughter of Alexis and Sonny, when she had aplastic anemia. Alexis had begged and yelled at the pregnant Sam to get her to agree to have labor induced so her child could be born early and her stem cells harvested to save the ill Kristina. Sam went into labor early and baby Lila was born stillborn. Although her obstetrician later told Sam that baby Lila died because of a medical condition, not because of Alexis's actions, Sam still blamed her. Later, Sam also blamed Alexis for Danny's death in the epidemic, as the doctors chose the deathly ill Alexis to receive the antidote ahead of Danny and Danny was the one who died. Sam also disliked Alexis for pursuing charges against her fiance Jason, a mafia hitman, and later for representing Manny Ruiz, a criminal who had stalked Sam. Sam believes Alexis is arrogant and supercilious.
[edit] Health crisis
Jason ultimately told Alexis the truth when Sam was in the hospital suffering from a bullet wound through her uterus and near death. Interestingly, Nikolas, the son of Alexis's half-brother Stavros Cassadine, proved to have the same rare AB negative blood type as Sam. Nikolas donated blood when Sam needed transfusions and there was a shortage of her type at the hospital. When Sam asked Alexis if she was "in love" with her baby's father, Alexis quickly changed the subject. No DNA tests have been done to confirm Sam's identity as Alexis' daughter and the father has not been definitely identified on the show. Alexis did say that the man never knew she was pregnant. She said her father, Mikkos Cassadine, pressured her to give up her daughter and apparently altered the records to make it appear that Alexis's daughter died in a car accident when she was three. Alexis thought he did this so she could never find her daughter. Alexis told Sam she often thought about the daughter she gave up for adoption. Alexis disagreed with Jason about the best course of treatment for Sam and had a team of doctors arrested for performing a surgery on Sam that another doctor said would kill her. The surgery saved Sam's life. Later, Alexis had Sam moved to a private hospital where Jason could not find her and tried to persuade Jason that he should break up with Sam for her own good. Jason later decided to end his engagement to Sam, though he told Alexis he came to this conclusion on his own and not because of Alexis's arguments. Alexis badly wanted to establish a relationship with Sam and asked Sam to move in with her family after she got out of the hospital. Sam got new clothes, thought of becoming a lawyer and got a job in the district attorney's office. However, Sam also blames Alexis for breaking up her relationship with Jason and is determined to get even. Sam and Alexis had a bitter fight after Sam told Alexis' husband Ric Lansing that Alexis is a bitch. Alexis doesn't understand Sam's willingness to rely on men for her self esteem or her determination to be with a mobster. She told Sam she doesn't want her to poison Kristina and Molly with her pitiful attitude and ordered her to leave her house. Following that, Ric and Sam sleep together. Alexis and Jason both separately witness the affair in action. Alexis kept silent though because she was secretly dealing with lung cancer. She wants Kristina and Molly to be raised together and feels that leaving them with Ric and Sam is the best of a series of imperfect choices. Alexis attempted to push Sam and Ric together as an attempt at a self-fulfilling prophecy for them to hook-up again. Sam, feeling guilty about her mother's illness, has tried to reconcile with Alexis. Yet still has never apologized to Alexis for her part in seducing Ric. She also learned that Jason slept with Elizabeth Webber that same night he saw her and Ric sleeping together. Before she was placed in a medically-induced coma to treat pneumonia, Alexis made Sam promise that she will not see Jason again, though as time went by Sam could not keep her promise and got back together with Jason.
[edit] Back with Jason
Sam then reconciled with Jason and moved back in with him. During the Metro Court Hostage Crisis she was able to escape with the aid of Jason (who was masked as one of the gunmen). She then warned the police that the Metro Court lobby was rigged to explode. She is being regarded as a hero by the media and appeared on an episode of the fictional show Everyday Heroes.
On Everyday Heroes, Sam met a television producer by the name of Amelia Joffe. She recognized Amelia's wrist watch as the one she had lost a while back. Behind Sam's back, Amelia has been snooping around to learn as much as possible about Angela Monroe, Sam's previously mentioned alias. Amelia's recognition of the strong resemblance between a photograph of Angela, and Sam, is what caused her to grow suspicious.
Jason and Sam attempted to have children, but she learned that due to scarring from her gun shot wound, she is not able to carry a child to term. Sam is emotional and sentimental around children, especially after losing her baby and finding she couldn't carry another.
[edit] The truth comes out
When Sam overheard Jason and Elizabeth discussing him being the father of Elizabeth's baby, Jacob Martin Spencer, Sam kept quiet, hoping that Jason was planning on telling her the truth himself. She confided in Amelia, who she thought was her friend.
Sam later found out that Amelia was the daughter of Bill Monroe. Sam married men to scam them out of his money in order to pay for the care of her disabled brother, Danny. She succeeded in this four times. Sam had married Bill Monroe. But whenever he learned the truth, he became violent. During an ensuing fight, which nearly killed Sam, she shot Bill. It was judged self-defense. Amelia had investigated Sam's past and planned to destroy her after making her a star. She later changed her mind because she did not want to destroy her own career since the show "Everyday Heroes" had become successful.
Sam visited Jason while he was in lock-up (pending the trial for the murder of Lorenzo Alcazar) and revealed to him the truth about her past. Jason had already been informed of this by Amelia. Amelia had also told him that Sam knew that Jason was really Jake's father, but Jason still refused to tell Sam the truth. Sam finally did confront him since it was obvious he was not going to be honest and she was also angry that Jason had gotten Elizabeth pregnant and yet, when Sam proposed them having a baby, he refused.
When Jake was kidnapped, she refused to allow Lucky and Elizabeth use her show to plead with the kidnapper to bring Jake back home. Sam was initially suspected, by Jason, of kidnapping Jake and although she was innocent of kidnapping she knew Maureen Harper had kidnapped him and did not tell anyone. When Jason was released on bail, he followed a tip Amelia gave him and, together with Amelia, found Jake at Maureen's home. Maureen told Jason and Amelia that Sam had watched her kidnap Jake and assumed she had told them.
Shortly thereafter, Sam broke up with Jason before he could break things off with her, expressing her pain and anger at Jason and Elizabeth. Sam wanted to tell Lucky that Jake was not his son, but Jason said if she did that he would turn her in as an accessory to Jake's kidnapping.
Sam hired men to scare Elizabeth, Cameron, and Jake in the park and say they wanted to use them to get to Jason so that Liz would be too afraid to be with Jason, although she made certain there would be no physical danger. Jason found out and threatened to kill Sam if Elizabeth and her children were ever hurt at Sam's instigation. Sam hired Lucky Spencer as her bodyguard to seduce him, although we later learned that Lucky knew exactly what she was doing. She slept with Lucky on September 17, 2007.[1]
[edit] Lucky and Sam
Sam and Lucky agreed to be friends and lovers while Lucky and Elizabeth await their final divorce proceedings. On the night of October 31, 2007 at Nikolas' Black and White Ball, Sam got into it with Elizabeth about Elizabeth's divorce. Elizabeth slapped Sam after hearing a cutting comment about her failed marriage. As Liz was walking away, Sam caught her by the arm and punched her in the face; the two then began an all-out cat fight which was broken up by Lucky and Emily.
Lucky found out the truth about baby Jake's true parentage, and began to despise Jason and Elizabeth. Sam tried comforting Lucky through the rest of the night. Sam receives a scare after her friend, Maxie Jones' sister, Georgie is murdered by the Text Message Killer. Two days later Sam believes that she will be the next victim after she receives a threatening text message. She had planned to use herself as bait to lure out the killer, but is persuaded not to by Lucky. Recently Sam got angry and told Carly that Jake is Jason's son in an attempt to seek revenge on Elizabeth and Carly.
Sam and Lucky are trying to move past the pain of their past relationships and move on, together. Sam sometimes becomes jealous of Elizabeth again when she sees Lucky's concern for her. She realizes that nothing will ever make Lucky and Elizabeth hate each other for good, but, she has moved past it.
After walking by the docks Sam, witnesses Alexis being attacked by the Text Message Killer and scares him off, only for them both to receive messages that say Sam will watch Alexis die.
Elizabeth came to the Spencer house and saw Sam with Jake. Elizabeth freaked out and told Sam to stay away from her kids. Sam began to taunt Elizabeth by saying that she will be a family with Lucky, Cam, and Jake and Elizabeth will never be a family with Jason, Cam, and Jake. Lucky came in and took Elizabeth back to the hospital where he later overheard Sam and Liz fighting again. Lucky told Elizabeth to tell him the truth about Sam, and she did. Lucky was hurt and angry and broke up with Sam.
At the docks alone after Lucky broke up with her, Sam gets a text from the killer, she frantically calls Lucky who does not believe her. The killer attacks and their struggle winds up in the street Sam goes to run but is hit by a car. The person driving the car was later revealed to be Monica Quartermaine. Sam was found by Jerry and he took her to the hospital.
On February 22, 2008, Sam was attacked by the Text Message Killer for the second time and asked him who he was. He took off his mask and revealed himself as Diego Alcazar, the man who she though she shot dead in self-defense
Even though there has been lots of hurt Lucky and Sam have decided to try out their relationship again.
===Dr.Ian Devlin and Sam=== On February 11th, 2008 after recovering from surgery after her hit and run, Sam had an encounter with the Text Message Killer in her hospital room despite the belief Cooper Barrett was the real killer and killed himself recently. This moment brought Ian Devlin to Sam's aid as she struggled to escape from the killer. Unable to capture the Text Message Killer in the hospital, Ian reassures Sam he believes her and will help in any way possible. Over the course of her stay for treatment on her hip Sam found a friend in Ian Devlin - a man whose Jekyll/Hyde complex makes his interest in Sam suspicious.
