Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport (IATA: QOWICAO: DNIM), also known as the Sam Mbakwe Owerri Airport and Imo Airport, is an airport serving Owerri, a city in the Imo State of southern Nigeria.[4] Once called Imo State Airport,[5] it was renamed in honor of a former governor, Sam Mbakwe.[6]

The manager, D. A. Ukwuaku, has been commended by people including the former deputy mayor of Port Harcourt and a traditional ruler from nearby Rivers State for the work he has done in improving the airport,[7] which was previously criticized over its bad condition.[4]
