Sam Malcolmson

Sam Malcolmson (born 2 April 1948 in Scotland)) was a football (soccer) player who represented New Zealand. He was a capable defender who liked to attack and was very strong in the air, he was often used as a striker and scored more than 50 goals in Rothmans League.

Malcolmson played for Airdrieonians, Queen of the South and Albion Rovers in Scotland before emigrating to New Zealand in 1974.

He represented the All Whites at the 1982 FIFA World Cup in Spain making one appearance in the tournament, against his native Scotland, in a 5-2 defeat, but did not feature for the other 2 group games against USSR and Brazil.[1]

Malcolmson earned 32 All Whites caps from 1976 to 1982[1], scoring 5 goals[2].
