Sam & Mark
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Sam and Mark are a popular music duo composed of second-season Pop Idol finalists Sam Nixon and Mark Rhodes
Nixon and Rhodes finished third and second, respectively, behind Pop Idol winner Michelle McManus. After the show finished they decided to form a duo and signed with Simon Fuller, the man behind the Spice Girls' fame.
They quickly released as a single a cover of The Beatles' song "With a Little Help from My Friends", released on Simon Fuller's label 'S'. The song entered the UK Singles Chart at #1. The follow-up single "The Sun Has Come Your Way" released by UMTV, only reached #19 in the charts. Subsequently the pair were dropped from their record label.
Despite this reversal, the two have managed to carve a successful television career for themselves, hosting various programmes on the BBC, most notably Top of the Pops Reloaded on Saturday mornings. Even though they made their national television debut on ITV1, they have not worked for ITV at all.
They hosted CBBC's weekday morning breakfast show, Level Up for four months from 3 April 2006 until 1 September 2006. On 16 September 2006, they are hosting the new Saturday morning TV show for the BBC on BBC Two and the CBBC Channel, called TMi (Too Much Information), alongside Bo Selecta star and E4's coverage of The Games presenter Caroline Flack. Sam and Mark have recently started a show on CBBC called Do Something Different. Sam and Mark are soon to host a new CBBC Saturday morning show, where viewers can become superhero's that they've made up.
They were also asked to perform on Children In Need 2007.
