Sam's Army is the primary unofficial supporters' club for the United States National Soccer Team. Founded in 1994, following the 1994 FIFA World Cup, the group was intended to emulate well-known supporters of other national teams such as Scotland's Tartan Army, and now has over 15,000 members. The group is best known for appearing en masse (in numbers of 1,000 or more) at all U.S. national team matches worldwide. Members dress in red, sing songs and chants, display huge American flags, and stand throughout each match.
