I contacted the people who arrange for permission to use material from the Museum of Modern Art - who published the book [ Americans 1942, 18 Artists From 9 States, MMA, 1942] from which this picture was taken - and was informed that they could only give permission to reproduce pictures of works that were held by the Museum of Modern Art. However they also felt that my contacting them indicated that I had made a sincere attempt to locate the copyright holder of the photo of Samuel Cashwan and that I should further state that if the holder of the rights to the picture should discover this use of it, that this person should contact me for further discussion.
