Salvador never took the surname von Habsburg-Lothringen from his adoptive father, and Maximilian I only granted the title of Prince of Iturbide to his cousin Agustin de Iturbide y Green with the style of Highness, but never to Salvador. Both cousins renounced any claim to the Imperial Throne of Mexico after the execution of Maximilian, which is not mentioned in this article.
