Talk:Salt Lake Temple
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I was wondering what the group would think about my adding a link to an on-line tour of temple square to this article. The link is located at http://www.allaboutmormons.com/templesquare.php. I should disclose that I am the creator of the site, which is why I wanted to make sure it was alright with the group before posting the link myself. I hope I've proceeded appropriately, as I'm new to Wikipedia and don't understand all of its policies.
- Because I was the first person to post to this discussion, and because no one has responded, I’m going to assume this page has no associated active discussion and that I may never get a response. I’ve gotten positive responses to my request to post a link to my on-line tour of temple square at Temple Square, so I’m going to assume it’s alright to proceed here as well. Please let me know if I’m mistaken.
User:TimRiker Anyone have floor plans or layout information on the temple? List_of_temples_of_The_Church_of_Jesus_Christ_of_Latter-day_Saints shows it as 253,015 square feet, but it does not look nearly that big to me.
- the temple was expanded to include an Annex area to the North. Look at the photos of the temple more closely. it is massive, but doesn't really look it unless you see the people at the base of it. Also check out the Los Angeles California Temple which is the only temple even close to the size of the Salt Lake Temple. From my understanding it follows the Kirtland/Nauvoo style with a priesthood assembly hall, on the upper level, but ordinance rooms below. I would love to find some floorplans, but check out the floor plans on the Nauvoo Temple. Bytebear 02:10, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Infobox
I think that the infobox on this temple is WAY too long. Some stuff like: "Cafeteria, phone number, floor area, exterior finish, temple design" and so on. It's just stupid, it needs to be cut down to important information. Any other thoughts? Mbatman72 22:47, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
- It is long, but the kind of information in it would make pretty boring prose if it were moved to the article body: “It has a cafeteria. It has 253,015 square feet. It has clothing rental.” The info is relevant to the subject, verifiable, with sources provided. I think the info box is the perfect place for it. Jaksmata 03:00, 30 June 2007 (UTC)
- Again, it is not necessarily relevant, I think that this was put in for people interested in attending this particular temple. I totally think that sort of information is useful, just not on wikipedia, an encyclopedia. If it cannot be worked into the article I think it should simply be removed. Also same deal with the pictures, too many. This article needs more information, not useless items of interest.Mbatman72 04:52, 1 July 2007 (UTC)
