Salvatore "Good Looking Sal" Vitale (born September 22, 1947 Dyker Heights, Brooklyn) is a New York City mafioso in the Bonanno crime family. He is the father of two sons, Joel Vitale and Anthony Vitale. He became the brother-in-law of Bonanno crime family boss Joseph Massino after Massino married his sister Josephine Vitale. \Joseph Massino was a childhood friend of Salvatore Vitale who was taught how to swim by him. In 2004, he testified against boss Joe Massino. Vitale allegedly helped in the murders of Alphonse Indelicato, Dominick Trinchera, and Phillip Giaccone. Massino is married to Vitale's sister, Josephine Vitale. He was the son of Giuseppe and Lilli Vitale who were emigrants from San Giuseppe, Italy. Two of his brothers died during childbirth and he had three older sisters, Anna, Betty and Josephine. His name was intended to originally be Joseph but was later baptized as Salvatore.
