Salvador Camacho Roldán (1827 - 1900) was a noted Colombian economist and politician. He was sometimes called the "founder of sociology" in Colombia.

Camacho was born in Nunchía, Casanare, and became a lawyer in 1847. By 1860, he had already been governor of Panama and both a Representative and Senator in the Colombian Congress. At this time, he began to write academic articles about the social consequences of economic actions.

In 1868, he exercised executive authority by absence of president Santiago Gutiérrez. He later served as Secretary of State in the government of Eustorgio Salgar, and he was considered as a possible contender for President of Colombia in 1871. His economic theories were very influential in government. After his time in politics, Camacho focused on writing and teaching.
