Salthill (Irish: Bóthar na Trá - literally, "Beach Road") is a seaside resort situated 3 km to the west of Galway City in the province of Connacht in County Galway, Ireland. Salthill is often thought of as a suburb of Galway, and attracts many tourists year-round. There is a 2km long promenade, locally known as the Prom, overlooking Galway Bay with bars, restaurants and hotels.

Salthill was, until 2007, home to one of the biggest free air shows in Europe, the Salthill Air Show, which took place in June over Galway Bay. The show annually attracted over 100,000 people and generated over €1 million in revenue.[1]

In 2007 an RAF helicopter door came loose and fell about 40 feet from the air, striking some of the audience. This incident caused insurance difficulties for the Salthill Air Show committee.

Due to these increased costs and also an ongoing protest by a group of Anti-War activists (The Galway Alliance Against War (GAAW)) a lack of funding caused the Air Show to be cancelled in November 2007.
