Saltash.net community school is a specialist science and mathematics & ICT college with a rural dimension, in Saltash, Cornwall, United Kingdom, with approximately 1350 pupils aged 11-18. The school added the ".net" to its name in September 2004 to reflect the extent to which the use of ICT and emerging web technologies were influencing learning. It aims to be a centre of innovative practice for ICT. The school is particularly proud of the fact that it was successful first time with a bid for a combined subject specialism. It is now one of a very small number of schools in the whole country that has achieved Specialist Status in this combination of subjects.

Mrs Isobel Bryce, Headteacher, said, “We knew it was quite a risk to go for Specialist Status in a combination of subjects but we wanted to recognise and build on the excellence that exists here already in the core subjects of mathematics and science, underpinned by ICT. Our school enjoys a very good reputation within Cornwall for the quality of its ICT provision and we very much wanted to share our expertise in all three areas with the wider community.”

In November 2005 the school underwent an OFSTED inspection under the new framework and was judged to be 'good with outstanding features', the outstanding features including Personal Development across the school.

The school received extensive national and international coverage in 2006 when its resident pig, Delores, gave birth to a large litter of piglets which were broadcast at www.pigcam.co.uk. In addition to its livestock area the school has recently opened a 'geological garden' and is currently constructing a 'sensory garden'.

However, as the school is a secondary, grammar schools such as Devonport High School for Boys still remain selective, while this school is not. It recently changed from the policy of not taking in pupils who had taken the 11+ exam, and allowed entry to the school, after children who had failed the entry exam to a grammar had no other available schools for a long way around.
