[edit] History

'Salts', as it is known, was established in 1896 and has two buildings known as 'the old building' and 'the new building'. In 2002 Salt Grammar School was chosen to be at the forefront of Bradford’s £400million 'Building Schools for the Future' programme, part of the government's initiative.[2] The design team was put together in early 2006 and a consortium of Amey, Costain and HSBC Infrastructure Fund Management was formed. The consortium was named Integrated Bradford. Building work on the new school began in January 2007 with a projected opening date of September 2008. The new school will be named 'Titus Salt School'.[3]

[edit] Academic standards

The Ofsted report of their inspection of 31 January - 4 February 2005 said "Salt Grammar school is an effective school and specialist mathematics and computing college in which standards are rising. There is a way to go, but the school has an outstandingly clear sense of purpose and all the right measures are in place for all students to keep on doing well. Leadership and governance are very good. Parents and students are supportive of a school that provides a good quality of education, has a cost-effective sixth form and provides good value for money."[1]

[edit] Competition wins

Students from Salt and Holy Family Catholic School won a trip to the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, in December 2005, after winning the Keighley College's Science, Technology and Aeronautics Regional (STAR) Centre Challenge.[4]
