Salisbury High School is one of the MOST INCLUSIVE schools in South Australia. It supports over 70 students with disabilities and multiple disabilities. It has the largest number of Aboriginal students in the city of Adelaide. It also caters for over 40 culturally diverse groups of students and it runs a comprehensive International Programme for both short term and long term stays.
It runs an annex building called Paralowie House on Waterloo Corner Road. Paralowie House looks after street kids who decide to come back to school on a short term basis before venturing off again. Each time they venture into Paralowie House, they study and gain a Unit of work which adds towards a TAFE Certificate.
In addition to the disadvantage students it runs three strong Senior School pathways (a Uni Pathway, a VET Pathway and a Community Studies Pathway) that lead to further studies, work, or community service. Their vision is to see every student engaged in Post School vocation after graduation - with NO student on unemployment.
Additionally, Salisbury High School is one of the best ICT equipped Public Schools in the district with over 600 modern computers (180 Macs and 420 PCs), a fast LAN and Internet. It runs a Citrix Server for remote interactive connection to the school's LAN, a Digital Video Server for embedding Video into the curriculum, and a File Maker Internet Server for Web interface data collection. All staff (teaching and support staff) will have a VET Certificate 1 in ICT by the end of the year.
In 2007 it has become the ICT and Business Focus school in the District due to its heavy emphasis on learning technologies and information literacies across the school.
