Salina Township is located in the western half of Kankakee County, Illinois. The population was 1,317 at the 2000 census. It includes Bonfield. Salina Township was created in April 1854.
It is located at 41.160248 N, -88.075138 W. It has 94.93 km² (37 sq mi). (36.65 square miles) of land. It has 470 housing units.

The township is governed by an elected Town Board of a Supervisor and four Trustees. The Township also has an elected Assessor, Clerk, Highway Commissioner and Supervisor. The Township Office is located at 3388 North 10000 West Road, Bonfield, IL 60913.
