Salina High School Central, commonly called Salina Central, is a public school in Salina, Kansas, for students from grades 9 to 12. The school is located at 650 East Crawford, Salina, KS 67401. Before the addition of Salina High School South to the district, the school was originally called Salina High School.

[edit] Athletics
Salina Central is often heralded for its successful athletic programs. The football team has won six KSHSAA 5A State titles, had back-to-back-to-back undefeated seasons and held a 46 game win streak in district play from 1991 until they were beat by Seaman High School in 2007. Also, the Men's Tennis program recently recorded its 5th straight KSHSAA 5A State title. The Men's Tennis team currently owns seven State titles, while the Lady's Tennis team owns three.

Despite the emphasis on athletics, Salina Central fine arts programs have grown minorly over the past few years.[when?]
Salina Central has become a front runner in theatre. Thespian Troupe 639 recently[when?] presented Noises Off at the Kansas State Thespian Conference in Wichita. During the 2006-2007 school year, Thespian Troupe 639 put on four shows for the first time in Central's history.[citation needed]
In 2005 and 2006 the forensics team placed second in the state and in 2007 they broke the all-time state record for number of points with 392.[citation needed] They also have been competitive on the national scene having two national finalists in 2007 and numerous semifinalists and quarterfinalists in previous years.
In the 2006-2007 school year, the Choraliers, String Orchestra, and Concert Band all received Superior ratings at the Kansas Music Educators Association ensemble contest. The groups returned from the contest in 2007-2008 with Superior ratings once again. However, their contest was at Hays high school. A primarily 3A contest, the REAL contest is at Witchita East High School were most 5A and 6A schools compete.

Salina Central maintains a Hall of Fame composed of former students. Current members include Bill Graves, former governor of Kansas; astronaut Steve Hawley;Randy Groves; Hon. Lawton R. Nuss; Dr. Martha Peterson; Kenneth R. Rearwin; Janice L. Cockrell; and Gary A. Haynes.
