Salesian College Farnborough, Hampshire started in 1901 as a small preparatory school for boys, but soon expanded to provide boarding secondary education as it became more popular. In 1966 it became an independent grammar school, and in 1970 the preparatory school was discontinued. In 1979 it stopped being a boarding school. At present the College holds just over 500 boys from ages 11 to 18. The Sixth Form Centre has recently had an extension. Famous past pupils include Sean Devereux
The college has recently accepted girls into the school as part of the 2007-2008 year. The Headmaster Patrick Wilson said: “At this time more and more boys’ schools are finding that the advantages of single sex schooling up to the age of 16 are best followed by a mixed sixth form environment as a preparation for higher education."
