[edit] History
The school was founded as Salem College by the Seventh Day Baptist Church in 1888. It soon became a non-sectarian non-profit college. The school continued as a liberal arts and teacher education college until 1989 when it formed an alliance with Teikyo University of Tokyo, Japan. This changed the focus of the school to one of education of international students in a unique atmosphere. Salem College was then renamed Salem-Teikyo University. The alliance with Teikyo ended in 2000 and the school changed its name to Salem International University. Salem International University was acquired by Salem Education, LLC in June 2005.
[edit] Accreditation

[edit] Online Programs
Salem International University offers an Associate of Science in Business Administration, a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration (Management, Sports Management, Accounting, International Business),Bachelor of Science Information Technology, and an MBA (International Business). All programs including online programs are delivered in monthly format allowing students to complete their degrees more quickly than their counterparts at other traditional or online universities. This attracts non-traditional students conscious of time and accessibility. Since classes are only 4 weeks long the MBA is completed in 12 months, a Bachelor's in 40 months, or an Associate's is completed in only 20 months if you start your studies without any prior college credits. There is only one specific log in for each class on the first day to verify attendance. Assignments are personal based and do not utilize group papers as a regular means of teaching. The school uses Title IV funding, PELL grants, and private student loans for funding. They will even allow payment plans for any remaining amount although in terms that do not exceed the semester.
