Salem Alba

Salem Alba (born Syed Salem Albar in Singapore in 1983) is Singapore's young designer.

Salem left Singapore to study in Malaysia in 1995 to 1998. By the age of 13, he was presented the Sijil Kecemerlangan (Excellence Award) by the Menteri Besar (also known as Chief Minister) of Terengganu, for his excellence in UPSR. Upon his return to Singapore in 1998, he completed his O-Levels and was later accepted in Temasek Polytechnic. Currently, he is serving his National Service in the Singapore Artillery Formation.

He first attracted media attention by competing among other young designers in the SMCCI-WEN Malay Fashion Designers Award 2007 and won 1st place.[1] Since then, his initiative has led to the birth of the Prodigy: Young Designer's Showcase; a media-covered showcase that gives young local designers from every field of creativity, a chance to portray their work.

He currently runs his self-named label Salem Alba[2], which comprises two lines namely, Salem Alba and Salem Alba Atelier.
