Salang, Malaysia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Salang is the most northerly village on the island of Tioman, Pahang, Malaysia. It is very small, yet popular with backpackers. It has a few bars, some dive shops and two main chalet complexes. Although the beach is not amazing, and the village itself somewhat polluted, it is within close access to the best reef sites and the atmosphere can get quite lively in the summer.

For a bit more adventure, one can trek over to the neighboring uninhabited "Monkey Bay" so named because the monkeys are often seen walking along the beach. The bay is totally secluded making it great for a picnic. There is also coral accessible from the beach although be warned at low tide it can get a bit too shallow for snorkeling.
