Salamansa (also in Cape Verdean Creole), is a village located only 7 km ENE of the island capital of Mindelo in the island of São Vicente, Cape Verde. The village is in the middle of the road linking Mindelo and Baía das Gatas and also serves a road to Cabo de João Evora. The urban area of Mindelo is approximately 3 km to its west.

[edit] Geography
The area around Salamansa contains farmlands. Barren rocks with a few grasses and flowers dominates the rest of the area around Salamansa as well as mountains and several capes accessed with remote roads to the south. Monte Verde, the island's tallest mountain is to the south. Salamansa offers a panoramic view of much of the northern and the western parts of the islands including most of its mountains. Salamansa also features a beach.

The living standards are in the middle range as well as its income, one time, there were no money until the mid-20th century. The village is in the island's middle class as well as the national class, the living standards are mid to high. A part of the population are farmers and are based in agriculture where banana plantations, pineapple and other crops are common, other jobs related to miscellaneous covers the rest of its industry. The village contains a lot of small and mud-brick built-houses with larger well-built homes. Electricity and communications as well as phone lines has been almost entirely available in Salamansa and its nearby areas since the 1970s by nearby Mindelo.

The area around Salamansa features a cape and the Baia da Salamansa located approximately 3 km north. Its soil color is butterscotch-red and features an old small abandoned house by the cape area. The cape cannot be seen but its nearby mountains can be viewed from the neighboring Baía das Gatas.
