The salamander shark, Parmaturus pilosus, is a cat shark of the family Scyliorhinidae, found only around Japan, at depths down to 790 m. Its length is up to 64 cm.
The salamander shark is found on the continental slope. Its liver has a high concentration of squalene.
Reproduction is oviparous.
