Salado Independent School District

Salado Independent School District is a public school district based in Salado, Texas (USA). It is located mid-way between Austin and Waco on Interstate 35. Salado I.S.D. is a Texas Education Agency Recognized District. Thomas Arnold Elementary and Salado Intermediate are Recognized and Salado High School is Academically Acceptable.

The members of the board, as of 2007 are Jeff Kelley as the President, Jackie Burson as the Vice President, Miriam Ervi as the Secretary, Deborah Aldridge, Lynn Renfro, Frank Carlson, and Chris Seaton.

The High School Academic UIL Team has won district, regional, area, and state honors for the past 8 years. The One Act Play cast competed in state competition in 2005-06 and the Debate Team competed in the National Forensics Championships. SISD provides over 25 career and technology courses, including horticulture, fish hatcheries, forestry, biotechnology, agriculture sciences, home economics, web mastering, and computer animation graphics. Salado ISD prides itself on provided innovative, research based programs including Grand Central Station, RALLYE reading, Texas A&M Consolidated Mathematics Curriculum, Neuhaus Reading Program, and 2 full-time English as a Second Language teachers. Salado ISD conducts pre- and post-testing to determine program success each year and publishes this in a State of the Union report.

The tax rate for Salado ISD is currently $1.60 per $100 evaluation of property with $1.30 going to Maintenance and Operations and $.30 going to debt service.
