Sala Bolognese is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Bologna in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 15 km northwest of Bologna. As of 31 December 2004, it had a population of 7,082 and an area of 45.2 km².[1]

The municipality of Sala Bolognese contains the frazioni (subdivision): Padulle (capoluogo), Sala, Osteria Nuova, Bonconvento e Bagno di Piano.

Sala Bolognese borders the following municipalities: Anzola dell'Emilia, Argelato, Calderara di Reno, Castel Maggiore, Castello d'Argile, San Giovanni in Persiceto.
