When are you putting up a userpage, hm? :D Great work on the Nana character article so far! Mheart 19:05, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] List of Samurai Shodown characters
Please do not push this. No matter how long this is dragged out, the end result is redirect in accordance with Wikipedia's guidelines and policies. If you wish to give information on the characters, there should be a Samurai Shodown or fighting game wiki at Wikia. Each character will have an article, and it will be much more beneficial for you. Thanks for the info, but as far as being behind in classes go, you're not alone. RIT can be pain incarnate sometimes, and if I spent this past week on WP, I wouldn't be in school anymore! -MissingNOOO 16:11, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Street Fighter articles
- Please stop adding Gamest ranking stuff to the opening paragraph. This is trivial information that doesn't belong there. JuJube (talk) 11:22, 6 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] KoF sub articles
Felt you deserved an answer directly. The reason I'm splitting those articles is because the current list ends up weighing in at a hefty 149kb even now, because some guy went and merged almost *all* the KOF character articles into it @_@ While I agree not everyone really deserves an article of their own that page is just too huge. Either it'll end up chopped up or you'll end up with info removed and reduced.
Oh and agreed about Diana. I didn't add that section to the page, it was there already actually.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 16:24, 22 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, I was wondering about that. :) ~I agree about the chopping of the info part. K' and Benimaru have no more story importance as the current way it stands. Sake neko (talk)
[edit] Kula Diamond
I think there's enough there to warrant it's own article and would give room to properly expand it more.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 01:32, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- Er, I'm slightly confused. You mean the section as it was before or as it is now? Sake neko (talk) 06:06, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- I mean take the section as it is now and restore it as an article, and then flesh it out from there. She's got enough info and background to work with for a full one.
- I really don't get FightingStreet's rapid mergings...the Sports Team I understand. But a lot of those guys...they're significant.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 06:56, 27 February 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for the clarification. If we do make Kula her own article, we can make a sub section to include her "team" during her fights -like Candy, Diana as there's like nothing else on her anywhere, and a brief mention about Foxy. We can also include other info about her, like her rapid appearance for promotional art during the NESTS saga and the info given about her during KOF: MI. Getting references for those type of things will be kinda hard though.
-
-
- I'm also slightly disgruntled about the merges as I was still in the midst of rewriting some articles before the merge. On the plus side though, this gives casual editors time to see who's who in the series. It'd also would've taken much longer for me to fill out those infoboxes for the seiyuus if it were the older format. Just as long as they aren't all unfairly erased or redirected somewhere, I'll be happy to keep editing.

[edit] Template:SNK character -> Template:SNK-Capcom character
Just a shout that the templates have been combined. The old redirect will work if need be, but this pretty much simplifies things and would probably be simpler to use it by itself outright. ;) Btw you're doing an awesome job with the KOF char lists.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 01:01, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
Oh, well what I mean is you see in the character sections how they have an in-universe part of their infobox that links to another template? Template:SNK-Capcom character is effectively the new one compared to the more widely used SNK character one on that page. Keeps the best of both worlds all around.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 02:45, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Just a head's up
But when you add the likes/dislikes template areas if you're up for it you might add references in there too. It'll prevent stupid anonymous editors from butchering things somewhat and helps if the section gets split off anyway.--Kung Fu Man (talk) 04:28, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Samurai Shodown Characters
First of all, thanks for your herculean work on these articles. I'm just wondering about a few details... a) Was Yumeji's gender ever confirmed? The fact that he/she turns up as a nun sounds like a pretty big hint, but then again, we still don't know what was so wrong with his/her body (I seem to remember that was the reason why Yumeji left Sakon's place), so there's still room for speculation... A girl raised like a boy? A boy raised like a girl? Something stranger? b) Are we really supposed to believe Yumeji was dressed like a nun... and disguised as Haōmaru on top of that? Couldn't that be the same kind of illusion/metamorphosis/whatever Yumeji used in-game? c) Are you sure Galford was a sailor? That tidbit doesn't ring any bell... d) The Samurai Spirits Sen website only lists three sisters, and one of them is actually younger than him... Is there a conflicting version out there? 88.161.129.43 (talk) 05:52, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Okay, let's take this one step at a time.
- 1) Yumeji was never truly confirmed to be either gender since Yuki Enterprises basically says, "Believe whatever you believe Yumeji to be". Yumeji's gender selection was made based on witnessing the critical and fan American response to Yumeji which mostly state Yumeji as a female. Unlike another gender ambiguous character like Shion, neither official story nor in-game text hint to either one (in fact, the gender is usually neutral). If you think it benefits the article, you can re-write Yuemji's section to reflect this statement.
- I'd need to completely avoid "he"s and "she"s... I guess that would be possible (*looks at Tekken's Leo article*), but I'm afraid my English skills simply aren't up to the task... ^^; 88.161.129.43 (talk) 17:45, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- 2) If you see Rasetsumaru's ending, it'll be very hard to believe that it could be anyone else. Hardly any other character possesses the ability to morph as Yumeji does. The nun's line also says "I should have done this a year ago..." which would relate to the events before/during SSV. Unless there was something like a priest or another monk that is somehow repenting for knowing Rasetsumaru -like some note somewhere in his backstory- it wouldn't be too illogical to say that the nun or said person in white mantel is Yumeji. I think my choice of wording was made because I thought the word "morphing" was just monotonous at the time. You can change it if it fits the article better.
- Sorry, I wasn't arguing that the nun wasn't Yumeji, I was just saying that it probably wasn't a mere "disguise"... 'Looks like we agree, then. 88.161.129.43 (talk) 17:45, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- 3) Galford being a sailor has been mentioned many times in the past by fans so this may not be really notable. He has had the nickname "Surfer Ninja" too but that's irrelevant. In truth, that was merely some copy-editing from the old article. The sources for this particular statement are few and varied, which could be caused by misinterpretation from his Japanese story where he "sailed from America" vs "was a sailor". On the other hand, there are a good handful of unused sketches of Galford that portray him in an old-timey sailor outfit found in various old artbooks from SNK. One in particular has him peeling potatoes with a bored look on his face. Him being a sailor was also minorly mentioned in the English instruction manual of the SNES for the first game (at least the copy I have). I haven't searched too hard to verify this fact from the official site so I guess it would be generous to leave a "citation needed" box if you want to pull that note of his character into question.
- I was just wondering, as I have no recollection of that particular bit (I always thought these illustrations were simply referring to his travel to Japan)... But if there's that mention in the English manual... I can't say I trust the English translations all that much, but it's not like I can really argue against that. 88.161.129.43 (talk) 17:45, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- That's why I mentioned both those sources. I honestly believe that he's just a character with artistic liberties but I don't want to have an edit-war over a relatively minor detail that lists it both as true and not true. I'll have to look through the official sites again to double-check though. Sake neko (talk) 18:19, 29 March 2008 (UTC)

- 4) The conflicting version in question would have to be his old profile from back in SS2 and his portrayal in SSRPG. In SSRPG, he has a younger sister named Selena along with two older sisters. His older profile, however, states that all of them are older. Since SSRPG is mostly a spin-off, Selena was pretty much pushed out of the article.
- I see... I don't have access to my documents right now, so I couldn't check his older profiles... Do you know of a good resource, by the way? I can't seem to find that older profile online... 88.161.129.43 (talk) 17:45, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Well, I'm not sure you have it but this book: All About SNK Head-to-Head Fighting Games 1991-2000 has all of the older profiles to a lot of SNK characters. I would say the Japanese wiki too but it doesn't list his family (at least the last time I checked). I was hoping that this site would update his profile but I guess not: http://snk-database.hp.infoseek.co.jp/

- I'm also questioning the validity of Sen's story for the older characters as there's been no word yet when the game takes place in the series. Sen seems to be a retconn of the series more than a sequel but that's just me. Sake neko (talk) 08:54, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Based on their ages, I would say it takes place one year after Asura Zanmaden? 'Looks like Genjūrō gets to live a bit longer after all... Anyway, thank you for your time! 88.161.129.43 (talk) 17:45, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] List of Samurai Shodown Characters
If you're going to attempt to salvage that, you really need to trim it down. You need to get rid of the infoboxes. They take up way too much space and they're just unnecessary. If it's important, include it in the prose. You should try to get them all down to two paragraphs (three for the major characters). Remember that the sections are to describe the characters in general. The main game articles should take care of the plot. Also, characters that only appear in a few games should just redirect right to their game of origin. There is no need to list them all. The end result should be between fifty to sixty KB. TTN (talk) 23:41, 8 May 2008 (UTC)
- I like the suggestions but I'd rather they be shared with everyone and not just me. I've had that trimming idea for sometime now and even though there's that wikiBold and size policy, a lot of people may not understand the reason for a trim. It may seem futile but I'd like to repost your suggestions on the article's discussion page because 1) it'll give time for anyone else to notice and see if they really care and 2} to see if anyone else will help with the change. Frankly, it's a little demoralizing to see that most of the newer edits made by other editors have been over the more trivial details. Is this all right with you?
