As of 2001 India census[1], Sakit had a population of 6934. Males constitute 53% of the population and females 47%. Sakit has an average literacy rate of 54%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 61%, and female literacy is 46%. In Sakit, 21% of the population is under 6 years of age.

This town is having many schools for small kids, where kids from different nearby villages come and sit. Though the number or schools are quite high in the village, education level and quality is still low. Along with that for education from 6th class to 12th class this town is having a little to offer. It possess only one Inter college, namely DAV Ineter college which is having a total capacity of 1500 students. The college is really very good.

This town was developed by Raja Sakat Singh during Mugal-time in India. Today there are ruins for his fort which is now a property of Archeological Survey of India. Apart from that, It is having ruins of many Havelis. These havelis where constructed during the time of English. These ruins now haunt people over there, as no body is there to take care of them.
