Sajid secretly married Bollywood actress Divya Bharti on 20 May 1992. Their marriage was tragically short lived when Divya fell to her death from her apartment building on 5 April 1993. The circumstances surrounding her death was suspicious but nothing was proved. Her death remains a mystery to this day. It is alleged that her death was not a suicide but a homicide. One source believes Sajid had links with the Mumbai Mafia and was involved in Divya's mysterious death but this has never been proven.[3].According to news reports Sajid had fainted when he found out about her death the very next day. He fainted again soon after he lit her funeral pyre.[4]He has since dedicated some of his films to Divya's memory.
He has since remarried to Wardha Khan, a former journalist. [5] They have a son together. [6]
His father Suleiman Nadiadwala died on Tuesday 11 September, 2007 of a prolonged illness.[7]
