Hi, your pages like Wikipedia:King of Wikipedia are good, but they would be far more appropriate on Meta rather than in the Wikipedia namespace. Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:

[edit] Linking dates

I noticed that you linked many dates in the GEnie article. There is disagreement about this, but I (and many other wikipedians) frown on linking dates in text because (1) it usually doesn't add anything to the context, and (2) too many links make sentences harder to read. A linked word should be something that would add to the understanding of the topic - and going to a list of events that happened in the same year usually doesn't help.

I only link dates if the link goes to a significant page (e.g., in an article about a book that was published in 1957, linking that year to 1957 in literature), or if the article is about general historical trends, which would make it helpful to see everything else that happened in that year.

As I say, this isn't a hard-and-fast rule and lots of people link dates, but I thought I'd mention it, as food for thought. Cheers! - DavidWBrooks 17:59, 1 Feb 2005 (UTC)

Hello and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed that you've uploaded a number of images in the GIF format. In the future, please save GIF images in the PNG format before converting (see Wikipedia:Preparing images for upload). PNG images almost always have a smaller file size, which decreases the amount of time they take to load. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.
