Contents

[edit] Manga

Saiyuki Gunlock while carrying a different name, is based on the Hazel Arc and several other parts of the Saiyuki Reload manga. Currently, the series has 8 volumes. Tokyopop has released in the U.S. the first 7 volumes.

[edit] Anime

The anime has been completed with 26 episodes and it is currently available in the United States on dvd, with all 7 volumes released. Gunlock covers the Hazel Arc of the Saiyuki Reload Manga since half of the Reload anime's story is filler and the later part being the God Arc which is from the first Saiyuki Manga, hence why the production team decided to create a whole new season starting with Reload's manga plot. The official title for the season is "Saiyuki Reload Gunlock".

PS2 game cover

Released in Japan on August 5, 2004 by Bandai, this fighting game features a total of eight playable characters including Sanzo, Goku, Gojyo and Hakkai as well as Kougaiji, Chin IIsou (featured in the original Saiyuki series), Kamisama (featured in the original Saiyuki manga and Saiyuki Reload anime) and Hazel. Playable game modes include traditional Single and multi-player Versus modes, as well as Practice Mode, Watch Mode (allowing for battles between two computer-controlled opponents) and a story-akin Dramatic Mode.

[edit] Trivia

Gunlock follows some of the events of the Saiyuki Reload manga but since much of the Hazel arc had yet to be written when the anime was being produced, the story and characterization of Hazel and other details are somewhat different from that in the manga.
