Saintpaulia inconspicua was confirmed as a variety of Saintpaulia, of which there are twenty known species, in 1958, and noted in botanical journals long before then. Saintpaulia inconspicua is now thought to be extinct (possibly the cause of the name). To identify it, if you are lucky enough, look for small blue and white flowers springing from short trailers. The earliest recorded identification was made in the heights of Ulugara, Tanzania, East Africa.[1] Saintpaulia inconspicua has gained an almost mythological status in African Violet circles.
