Sainthal is the muslim dominated town of Bareilly and majority of them are Shia devotees, the minority sect of Islam. The town has its historical background and is known for producing many eminent Ulemas and Urdu Poets. Sainthal has a substantial population of Syeds and majority of them are Zaidis. Though the town has a reasonable population of Sunni sect also. Majority of Syeds are from Zamidar families and were in sound financial position, but the partition of India and abolition of Zamidari System brings poverty to the town. One of the major reason behind town's backwardness was the Partition of India, as almost all the educated masses moved to Pakistan for the sake of Jobs and settled there. Now, the town is one of the emerging hub of Zari-Zardozi (hand embroidery) business.
