The Saint Petersburg Governorate (Санкт-Петербургская губерния or Sankt-Peterburgskaya guberniya) or Government of Saint Petersburg was a governorate of the Russian Empire. It was created as the Ingermanland Governorate (Ингерманландская губерния or Ingermanland guberniya) on December 18, 1708 out of territories conquered from Sweden in the Great Northern War.

On June 3, 1710 it was renamed after the newly founded city of Saint Petersburg by an ukaz of tsar Peter I, and in 1721 the former dominion of Swedish Ingria was formally ceded to Russia in the Treaty of Nystad. From 18 August 1914 to 26 January 1924 it was named Petrograd Governorate, and in 1924-1927 -- Leningrad Governorate. In 1927 it was reorganized into Leningrad Oblast.
