The Saint Lucia national rugby union team represents Saint Lucia in the sport of rugby union. Saint Lucia have thus far not played in a Rugby World Cup, but have participated in qualifying tournaments. They are classed as a tier-three nation by the International Rugby Board (IRB).
[edit] History
Saint Lucia's first ever international rugby match was actually a Round 1a one-off 2007 Rugby World Cup quailfying match, as part of the Americas tournaments in 2005. The match was played against St Vincent & Grenadines, and Saint Lucia won 36 points to 25, which enabled them to advance into the next round of World Cup qualifying.
Saint Lucia then played three pool matches to determine what nation would advance to the next stage of qualification. Saint Lucia lost their first match 82 to nil against Trinidad & Tobago, and the losses to Guyana and Barbados produced similar results. Saint Lucia finished fourth in the pool and were knocked out of the qualifying tournaments.
