The team attempted to qualify to the World Cup finals tournament for the first time during the 1994 World Cup qualification, when they were eliminated in the first qualification round by Saint Vincent and the Grenadines in 1992.

The team is currently competing in the first round of the CONCACAF 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification. In March 2008, Saint Lucia advanced to the second qualifying round by eliminating Turks and Caicos 3-2 on aggregate.[1] Saint Lucia's next opponent will be Guatemala, whom they are scheduled to play against in June 2008.
