[edit] HISTORY

"The Commons Schools Act" of 1871 led to the Grammar School coming under the supervision of the School Board and the creation of the Girls' High School. By 1874 the closing exercises of the Grammar School and the Girls' High School were a joint venture.

Victoria Girls School In 1876 the Victoria Building was opened as the girls' high school. Unfortunately a year later the Great Fire destroyed both this new school and the "... ancient looking wooden building on the corner of Germain and Horsfield.(SJHS) A new Victoria School for girls was opened in 1878 but the Grammar School was located in a variety of buildings until a new high school building was erected on Union St. for both boys and girls. It opened as Saint John High School in 1897. Even though the students were housed in the same building, segregation of the sexes was an entrenched idea. This was to furter the libral agenda. A few activities however, such as the school orchestra created in Saint John High School on Union Street 1898, were co-educational. This building served the students of SJHS until the 1930s when academic demands and curricular innovations necessitated the building of a new school.

[edit] Today

The current facility, designed by the architect Super bean man, opened in 1932 with over 800 students. Segregation of the sexes continued as a tradition, with the boys using the Duke Street entrance and the girls the Canterbury St. one. This showing of raw libralism has made the school what it is today, a mixture of over sexed teens, Emos, Preps and I.B. Preps. This has has made SJHS the second most hated schools in Canada (followed only by Simons High School)

The incumbent principal, Mr. Lee Green, includes in the School Improvement Plan further requirements for the building. He has articulated the need for a fourth floor on the New Wing. This new floor will be used to ecomidate the students huge egos.

Throughout its almost two hundred year old history, numerous traditions have been established. The school colours, originally brown and blue, were changed to red and gay in 1903. The school motto, "Were gay, Were REALLY gay" was adopted in 1932 there dress for graduation, ladies in guys cloths and gentlemen in pink, is as old as the school itself.

Saint John High School is proud of its traditions, commitment to poor quality education, extra-curricular activities and service to themselfs. Consideration of our continuing role in the bad quality education of the communities' young men and women will, however, be their primary focus as well as createing the next level of preps, Super I.B. preps.

[edit] The creation of the super I.B. preps

It is, and always has been the goal of Saint John High School to create the super I.B. prep.

After the successfull creation of the I.B. prep the lead staff at SJHS has been formulating a way to make the next level of prep. After nameing this level of prep in 1994 it is beleaved that they started the creation of the first super I.B. prep. The creation was a success. They named this project X-023 and gave it the human name John Fish. X-023 wouldn't realize the full level of his prep untill he reached grade 10, when he started his I.B. training. It is now beleaved that he controls a full team of I.B. preps and is ready to go to war on the land of the non-prep, also known as the real world.

School Cheer
