Saint Göran Hospital

Saint Göran Hospital (S:t Göran Hospital, in Swedish Sankt Görans sjukhus) is a hospital in Stockholm, Sweden. It is located at Kungsholmen (a small island in the lake Mälaren) in central Stockholm.

S:t Göran Hospital is one of Sweden's oldest hospitals. Already mentioned in letters from the 13th Century it has a proud history of social and medical development. Alongside Karolinska Hospital (Karolinska sjukhuset) it is Stockholms's main hospital and the prime emergency hospital in Sweden.

Approximately 1,500 people work at "S:t Göran", including 220 doctors, 560 nurses and 350 assistant nurses. The hospital was corporatized in 1994 and became the first privately-owned emergency hospital in Sweden in 1999.

Since 2004 it is also known as Capio S:t Görans Sjukhus.
