Saint-Jean-sur-Couesnon is located at 33 km in the North-East of Rennes and at 45 km in the south of the Mont Saint-Michel.

The communes bordering are Saint-Marc-sur-Couesnon, La Chapelle-Saint-Aubert, Vendel, Saint-Georges-de-Chesné, Saint-Aubin-du-Cormier and Mézières-sur-Couesnon.
