Inhabitants of Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer are called Jagüens.
As of the census of 1999, the village has a population of 871.

St Jacut is sited on a well protected coastal peninsular between two sea inlets. The sandy beach slopes unusually gently: the lateral distance between the low tide and high tide positions is correspondingly above average, as is the speed with which the sea moves between the two extremities.
