Saint-Chamond is a commune in the département of Loire and the Rhône-Alpes region of France. It is the largest suburb of the city of Saint-Étienne, and is adjacent to it on the northeast.
In the 1999 census, Saint-Chamond had a population of 37,378, making it the third-largest city in the Loire département, after Saint-Étienne and Roanne. The commune has a land area of 54.88 km² (21.189 sq mi).
